Managing a business involves a lot of paperwork, but it doesn't have to be tedious if you have the right application. An excellent example is Manager, which makes any aspect of managing a small business straightforward. It offers a wide range of customization options and its controls are quite easy to understand. Furthermore, the application is absolutely free and you can have it up and running on your Mac in just a few seconds.

The application allows you to manage multiple businesses separately. Creating a business, on its tabbed user interface, does not involve anything more than typing a name. Created businesses are displayed in a list, in alphabetical order, to make them easy to find. Once you select a business, the application will display its summary, as well as options for creating journal entries and reports, on separate sub-tabs, located on the left side of the interface.

The user interface can be customized for each business separately. Manager allows you to decide what sub-tabs to display for a selected business. You can choose from a very wide range of sections, for bank accounts, clients, sale and purchase invoices and many more. Each tab contains a specific set of controls, for managing the aforementioned aspect of your business.

Creating client or employee entries or other database contents requires filling in a series of input fields or selecting a few simple options. Based on the numbers you insert, the application will make all the necessary calculations automatically, when you generate invoices or reports. The best part is that certain database entries can be used as resources for other items. For example, when creating an invoice, you can simply select a recorded client, instead of typing in his name, address and so on. What's more, the application provides options for printing the invoice, cloning it and for sending it by email.

Pros

You can manage one or more businesses without too much effort. The application is quite flexible in terms of customization. It can make various calculations automatically, to generate invoices and reports.

Cons

The possibility of password-protecting created businesses would be a welcome feature. If you are looking for a reliable and easy to use accounting solution for your small business, then you will definitely want to try Manager.
